Cataracts

Advanced technologies and state of the art equipment allows us to deliver unparalleled eye care at all our Optometric clinics. Some of the equipment we use and technologies we employ are:

OCT

Ocular coherence tomography is a noninvasive scan of the internal structures of the eye. This machine is a critical tool in evaluating possible diabetic damage as well as glaucoma damage to the eye.

Threshold visual field

Visual field testing is one way to monitor whether blind spots are developing in your field of vision from glaucoma damage to the optic nerve. Visual field testing involves staring straight ahead into a machine and clicking a button when you notice a blinking light in your peripheral vision. The visual field test may be repeated at regular intervals so your eye doctor can determine if there is progressive vision loss.

Topography

The procedure itself is painless and brief. It is a noncontact examination that photographs the surface of the eye using ordinary light. The greatest advantage of corneal topography is its ability to detect conditions invisible to most conventional testing.

Retinal Photography

Retinal photography assists in the detection and management of problems such as diabetic changes, hypertensive retinopathy, macular degeneration, optic nerve disease, and retinal holes or thinning. This test is especially important for people with a history of high blood pressure, diabetes, retinal diseases, flashing lights, floaters, headaches, or a strong glasses prescription.

A fundus camera or retinal camera is a specialized low power microscope with an attached camera designed to photograph the interior surface of the eye, including the retina, optic disc, macula, and posterior pole. The camera is used to monitor the progression of a disease, diagnosis of a disease (combined with retinal angiography), or in screening programs, where the photos can be analysed later.

Visagraph eye movement testing

The Visagraph®, an eye-movement recording device, is the result of more than 80 years of foundational studies in conjunction with leading reading research. Data collected with the Visagraph® provides unique insight into each student’s silent reading behavior, revealing what may be hindering independent reading development.
